Help your child to be active!
Everyday:
take walks, ask your child to help with the garden,
make time for free outside play, jog, walk the dog, get the
mail, take the stairs instead of the elevators as much as possible.
3 to 5 times
a week: swimming, dancing, playing sports like soccer,
basketball, and baseball.
2-3 times a week: jumping rope, light exercise, stretching,
playing games like "follow the leader" that involve moving arms,
legs and hands in different positions, mimic different animal's
walk, etc…Use your imagination!
Limit:
TV watching, computer and video games to no more than 2 hours
per day.
Find local, safe playgrounds.
Create room to move in the home.
Be
your child's role model!
